Killam Development Proudly Supported the International Museum of Art & Science as a Diamond Sponsor for the 44th Annual Collage Gala

McAllen, TX (August 29, 2023) – Killam Development announced its support as the Diamond Sponsor for the 44th Annual Collage Gala, a premier fundraising event hosted by the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS). This sponsorship underscored Killam Development’s commitment to supporting the arts, education, and the McAllen community.

As a Diamond Sponsor, Killam Development will be the exclusive sponsor of the Ann Moore Art Studio for the entire month of January. This sponsorship marked an invaluable contribution to the ongoing cultural enrichment provided by IMAS.

The Collage Gala, a hallmark of McAllen’s social calendar, was a celebration of art, science, and community involvement. This year’s event, which took place on Saturday, August 26, 2023, commemorated not only IMAS’s impactful legacy but also the distinguished contributions of the LaMantia family to the museum and the wider community.

For over two decades, the LaMantia family has exemplified unparalleled philanthropy and leadership, generously supporting IMAS’s exhibitions, programs, and initiatives. Owners of L&F Distributors, the LaMantia family’s unwavering dedication to fostering arts and education, has made a profound impact on the Rio Grande Valley’s quality of life.

“The LaMantia family’s contributions to IMAS have been instrumental in shaping the museum’s success, from exhibitions like ‘Aliento a Tequila’ to pivotal fundraising events like ‘A Night at the Brew-seum’ and the Collage Gala,” states Ann Fortescue, President and Executive Director at IMAS. “We are proud to honor their legacy and thank Killam Development for its invaluable support.”

The Collage Gala, with its enchanting atmosphere, featured art exhibitions, silent and live auctions, live entertainment, and an open bar, playing a pivotal role in sustaining IMAS’s mission. The event’s proceeds contributed directly to providing diverse art and science exhibits, cultural programs, educational camps, and transformative learning spaces for all members of the community.

Killam Development’s Diamond Sponsorship signified a firm commitment to fostering accessible, innovative, and enriching cultural experiences. This partnership ensured that IMAS continued to thrive as a vibrant hub of knowledge and inspiration in McAllen.

The museum moved to its current, purpose-built facility in 1976. A 17,000+ square foot addition in 2001 allowed for education spaces, including an art studio and a changing exhibits gallery which increased the facility to its current 50,000 square feet. IMAS is located in McAllen in Hidalgo County, on the border with Mexico, with a growing population of nearly 1 million residents. Over 92% identify as Hispanic and 84% speak a primary language other than English.
